Band Ligator
A condition characterized by dilated and weakened blood vessels is called varices. The walls of these vessels become thin, increasing the risk of rupture and bleeding. In the gastrointestinal system, varices are more commonly found in the esophagus and stomach compared to other parts. The standard treatment method for gastrointestinal varices is the use of a band ligator, specifically the OMNIVIEW band ligator. It is employed endoscopically to ligate existing varices in the esophagus and also to treat hemorrhoids. The device consists of 7 bands in each unit and avoids latex usage to prevent sensitivity reactions in patients. The design of the distal portion is completely transparent, allowing for better endoscopic visualization during placement. Additionally, it produces a clicking sound after releasing each band to ensure proper deployment.
